Sacrificium

"Sacrificium" is Latin for sacrifice. Jesus is depicted in a non traditional way: sans the cross, but in a cruciform pose, exposing the raw flesh resulting from Roman lashing. The textile being ripped references Matthew 27:51 (NKJV) "Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split." The powerful moment symbolizes Jesus' defeat of death.
